Join us on Thursday 12th July for Film night at The Kings Arms in Abergavenny at 7:30pm for the free showing of Blood, Sweat and Gears, the story of a unique American professional cycling team, a team devoted not only to cleaning up the sport of cycling but to succeeding in the Tour de France.

On Saturday 14th July why not join us for Literature night at Abergavenny Borough Theatre at 7:30pm for a review of Merckx: Half-Man, Half-Bike by William Fotheringham in discussion with Rob Penn.

PLANS ADVANCED TO MAKE ABERGAVENNY THE CYCLING CAPITAL OF WALES

ABERGAVENNY is set to become the cycling capital of Wales if an initative to develop the town's annual Festival of Cycling for the future takes place.

Talks to get the plan from the drawing board into action have taken place between Monmouthshire County Council and the organisers of the Abergavenny Festival of Cycling in recent weeks.

And the talks are at an advanced stage, with the plan expected to get the go-ahead soon in an initial way for this year's Festival which is from July 12-15.

Then the plan is to go full-on for the 2013 event and beyond.

ENTRIES OPEN FOR THE 2012 FESTIVAL'S SPORTIVES

Entries for the 2012 Abergavenny Festival of Cycling Sportives, the Tour of the Iron Mountain on Saturday 14th of July 2012 and the Tour of the Black Mountains on Sunday 15th July 2012 have opened.

Participants can get a 20% discount on the total cost by entering both events (any distance).

 

 

 

 
ABERGAVENNY IS ONE OF THE BEST CYCLING PLACES IN UK

ABERGAVENNY is right up there among the best cycling venues in the UK, believes British road ace Dean Downing.

The Rotherham man is giving up being with his daughter Lily on her third birthday to travel hundreds of miles down to the Gwent town and back in order to compete in the Get Connected Welsh Open Criteriums.

The 2012 July race is also part of the British Cycling Elite Circuit Series and will be recorded by Sky Sports to be shown within a few days.

 
A THOUSAND THANKS FOR THE BIGGEST CYCLING EVENT IN WALES

ABERGAVENNY'S Festival of Cycling last weekend has been hailed as the most successful yet, the biggest event of its' kind in Wales this year and, probably, across the UK.

From Friday night's Get Connected Welsh Open Criteriums, which included a round of the national Elite Circuit Series for leading professional riders to Sunday's Tour of the Black Mountains Sportif, a massive 1,000 riders graced the roads of the town and Monmouthshire.
